Corbis Crop Japan.

ALL OF THE MATERIALS PRODUCED FOR CORBIS UNDER THE CROP SERIES WERE VERY SPECIAL PROJECTS. BUT THE CORBIS CROP JAPAN TOOK IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL. MOSTLY BECAUSE WE WANTED IT TO REFLECT THE SENSIBILITIES OF THAT COUNTRY WITH AS MUCH ARTISTIC EXPRESSION AS POSSIBLE.

The first thing we did is insist on French-fold pages, then we printed them on translucent sheets. A very special effect we did was to silkscreen the back of each sheet in white in the location where the image would go on the other side and then print four color process on the opposite side.

The spine consisted of an image as well, but that image was printed on the inside fold, then on the outside, all of the specifics of the two other images would be printed.

This very limited catalog showcased images from Japan from the 10th century to the 13th century, plus additional more modern and current representations of their society.

A few from the series include CROP1, CROP2, CROP3, CROP4, CROP5, CROP Perpignan and CROP CACP.
